About

The Cascade Paragliding Club (CPC) was formed in 1991 by Portland area adventurers who shared a love for the freedom of those three dimensional skies. The club began as the Northwest Paraglding Club but quickly changed to the Cascade Paragliding Club as it conflicted with the name of a club in Washington. Beginning with monthly newletters written by the past and future pioneers of Oregon Paragliding, and evolving to accommodate the Cyber-generation. We are a club that is striving to keep this beautiful priviledge, which we enjoy so much, sustainable, fun and safe for future pilots. We are dedicated to the advancement of paragliding and hang gliding in this region, through the education of its members in safety and general knowledge of the sport, as well as the development and maintenance of local flying sites and through the comradeship of fellow pilots.

Bylaws

Google groups: For club business, general and in depth discussion, flight plans, meeting times and flight reports!

Telegram: For time sensitive information, conditions, flight plans & meeting times, retrieves and abbreviated conversation

Facebook: For photos, videos and entertainment. Be aware that many facebook posts fall through the cracks and aren’t seen by many people. Important information may be seen by a large non-local population but missed by many CPC pilots. Although we try to mention club events and business on facebook, and lots of great pictures from CPC pilots are posted there, the club Facebook page is not an official CPC site.

CASCADE PARAGLIDING CLUB MONTHLY MEETING:
CURRENTLY OUR MEETINGS WILL BE HELD ON THE FIRST TUESDAY OF EACH MONTH. THEY WILL BE VIRTUAL AND USE THE GOOGLE MEET FORMAT. THE GOOGLE MEET LINK WILL BE POSTED ON OUR GOOGLE GROUP FORUM SEVERAL DAYS BEFORE THE MEETING:

Mentorship: While the club does not have official mentors, we strongly encourage all new P2s to seek out mentorship by proactively finding a mentor that fits their personality, communication needs and flying aspirations. This is not a one size fits all deal. We encourage you to reach out to veteran pilots at flying sites and through the avenues of communication listed above. You may be surprised at how approachable pilots are. Please feel free to reach out to a club officer or member for more guidance – you can find contact information in the club roster and below!

Membership in the Cascade Paragliding Club is open to anyone involved or interested in the sports of paragliding and hang gliding. Annual dues are $30 for individuals, $45 for families living at the same address.
